Executive Summary

Car Breakers Zim operates a multi-sided marketplace connecting buyers of vehicle parts with licensed breaker yards across Zimbabwe. Our monetisation strategy is built on seven complementary revenue streams, with transaction commission as the core engine and subscriptions, featured placements, and data licensing providing diversified upside.

Our blended take rate target is 14–18% of GMV by Year 3 through subscription and featured listing upsells — without increasing the base transaction commission.

Revenue Streams

All seven revenue streams are designed to be complementary — the more value sellers receive, the more they pay; the more buyers transact, the more commission is generated.

1. Transaction Commission
10% of GMV
The core revenue engine. Car Breakers Zim charges a 10% commission on every completed transaction, deducted automatically from seller payouts via escrow. No charge to buyers. Commission covers platform maintenance, payment processing, buyer protection liability, and dispute resolution.

$0 – $49/month
Tiered monthly subscription plans for breaker yards. Free tier is available for all (first 100 listings). Paid tiers unlock higher listing limits, analytics, bulk upload tools, priority support, and reduced commission rates.

Growth Phases

1
Phase 1 — Foundation (2025–2026)
Focus: GMV volume, seller acquisition, marketplace trust
2
Phase 2 — Diversification (2027)
Focus: ARPU increase, subscription uptake, auction launch
3
Phase 3 — Scale & Data (2028)
Focus: data monetisation, regional expansion, insurance partnerships

Pricing Principles

The single most important number to track: GMV per active seller per month. Subscription and featured listing revenue follow naturally when sellers are profitable on the platform.
